Mojan & Kayvon’s Destination Wedding at Dreams Bahia Mita: A Meaningful Celebration in Puerto Vallarta
Not long ago, I had the opportunity to travel to Puerto Vallarta to document a very special celebration: Mojan and Kayvon’s destination wedding adventure in Punta de Mita, Nayarit.
For their venue, the couple chose Dreams Bahia Mita, an all-inclusive resort located just 40 minutes by car from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport. The property shares its grounds with its sister resort, Secrets Bahia Mita (part of the Hyatt Inclusive Collection), making it a versatile option for both adults-only events and family-friendly celebrations with young children.
When Mojan first reached out, she had a clear vision for their wedding photography: a natural, unscripted style that would allow them to be fully present with their loved ones while capturing an honest and beautiful visual record of their weekend. This approach aligns seamlessly with our practice, so the connection was instant.
We flew from Cancun to Puerto Vallarta for the wedding weekend. From the moment we stepped onto the property, the staff welcomed us warmly, offering local recommendations, an easy check-in, and a property tour. It was a wonderful start to our stay along Mexico's Pacific coast. The culinary experience at Dreams Bahia Mita was equally impressive, offering a vast diversity of restaurants and a vibrant buffet showcasing local Mexican flavors.
The Big Day
On the day of the wedding, we joined Mojan and Kayvon early in their rooms as they prepared for the ceremony. Everything flowed smoothly thanks to Fer Escamilla, their local Puerto Vallarta wedding planner, who ensured every moment stayed effortlessly on schedule.
The thought and intention behind Mojan and Kayvon's wedding design was evident right away. They chose a cool color palette of greens, blues, and whites that beautifully complemented the warm architecture of Dreams Bahia Mita and blended naturally with the surrounding landscape of ocean, mountains, and open sky.
Mojan and Kayvon opted for a private first look before the ceremony, allowing them to join their guests directly for cocktail hour afterward. We selected a quiet, semi-private garden framed by lush local foliage for this intimate and emotional moment, and a peaceful pause before meeting their wedding party for formal group portraits.
For me, these quiet in-between moments are where true storytelling lives. Spontaneous interactions naturally unfold through conversation, slow walks, and genuine connection: elements that are always noticeable in the final gallery.
After finishing the wedding party portraits, we strolled back toward the ceremony site, stopping to capture a few portraits along the resort’s signature architectural hallway. These quickly became some of my favorite images from the entire day.
The Ceremony & Reception
Mojan and Kayvon held their ceremony at the Sand Terrace, a dramatic cliffside space overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the mountains enclosing Punta de Mita. The floral installations by Mayte Romero elevated the natural landscape with understated elegance. Following a traditional Persian wedding ceremony, we documented family portraits before transitioning to the Garden Deck for cocktails, a spacious open-air venue that can easily host receptions for up to 250 guests.
Pacific sunsets are truly unforgettable, especially when surrounded by the warmth of close family and friends. As the sun began to dip, we slipped away to the beach for a few intimate golden-hour portraits against the soft dusk sky.
Following a delicious dinner, the celebration transitioned to the dance floor. As the couple invited everyone to join them, fireworks lit up the sky, a fitting culmination of the energy, joy, and love that filled the day.
A Meaningful Farewell
To wrap up the weekend, the couple hosted a farewell dinner at the Bahia Mita Garden at sunset the following evening. This relaxed gathering felt like a heartfelt closing chapter to the experience Mojan and Kayvon created for their guests along the Mexican coast.
If you are currently planning a wedding in Puerto Vallarta or Riviera Nayarit, Dreams Bahia Mita stands out as a remarkable venue, offering a sense of secluded privacy paired with warm hospitality, exceptional dining, and an unforgettable coastal backdrop.
